Fall Training Camp 2025
September 13th - 21st | Costa Blanca, Spain

Experience the same routes that professional cyclists are training on during the winter months, guided by

Dates: 

Riders should plan fly into Valencia (VLC) on Friday, September 12, afternoon/evening or Saturday, September 13th morning,  as airport transfers will be offered Friday evening (between 5-8 pm) and Saturday morning (9 to noon). 

Shuttles returning to the airport will be arranged on Saturday, September 20th (9-12h) or late afternoon for early flights on Sunday, September the 21st. For early flights, we recommend booking accommodations close to the airport. 

 

Schedule: 

- Friday, September 12th or Saturday, September 13th: Arrival to Valencia & transfer from the airport to Costa Blanca

- Saturday, September 13th morning/afternoon: bike set up, test ride and group dinner

September 14th-19th: Training Camp, riding 3-5h daily 

September 20-21st: Travel home

 

Location:

Located just over an hour from Valencia, Costa Blanca offers an unparalleled cycling experience
for avid cyclists, with challenging mountain climbs and scenic coastal routes that cater to all
levels. The region’s varied terrain, from tough ascents to fast, flat stretches, ensures every ride
is both a physical challenge and a visual treat.


Compared to other top cycling destinations, Costa Blanca offers a unique combination of
rugged mountains and breathtaking seaside paths, all in one place. September is the ideal time
to visit, with mild temperatures, quiet roads, and far fewer tourists, allowing for a more relaxed
and focused ride. With world-class cycling infrastructure and a dedicated cycling culture, Costa
Blanca offers everything an avid cyclist could want, and more!

 

Accommodation: 

Participant are responsible for booking their own accommodation in any of the following towns: Xalo, Lliber, Alcalili OR within 5km of Alcalili as this is where the rides will be starting daily. Great options are available on AirBnb, VRBO or any other booking sites. There are not many hotels in the area, and we want all riders to have accommodation that fits their needs, hence riders are responsible booking on their own. If you have any questions regarding accommodations, please do not hesitate to ask.

 

Transportation: 

The nearest airport is Valencia Airport (VLC), also known as Manises Airport, located approximately 1 hour from Costa Blanca.


On-site transportation for dinners and to popular grocery stores will be offered, for those who are not renting a vehicle.

What's included?   

- 6 days of guided training rides

- Participant guide to help you prepare for your camp and gpx file

- Support vehicle with essentials: water, sports drinks, ride food, etc. on longer days

- Social activities: dinner organizations & logistics in the best spots of the region.

- Airfare
- Accommodations: Please book your accommodation within 5km of Alcalili

- Hotel for early flight on September 21st (if applicable)
- Bike rental

Bike Rental

We are happy to help set you up with a bike rental, which will be billed on your second payment (or separately if you prefer to pay the full camp payment up front). When registering for camp, riders will be sent out a "Rider info sheet" to fill up, where rentals can be requested.

There is limited availability so please inquire early. 

We will be make arrangements for the rental and your bike will be set-up and delivered to your accommodation.

 

FAQ Is this for me? What is the level of the participants?

The level of participants is A/B, which is on a Vancouver Club level, the equivalent of 25-28km/h

on a flat ride and 20-22km on a hilly ride over 3h+.

What is the volume/elevation?

Distances of 75 - 120km with elevation between 800 -2300m (on the biggest days). Lighter day mid-week (50-70km w/ minimum elevation). 2-3 groups based on fitness levels for a customized experience

Joanie Caron - Lead Coach
Altius Velo Founder and Head Coach, former professional cyclist and currently coaching with Cycling Canada on the road and paralympic side, Joanie has been hosting athletes to train in the North County area since 2019. Still, her love story with the region started in 2010 when she chose San Diego as her winter training base to get ready for the big European races. Joanie uses her passion for road cycling, and coaching, combined with her willingness to provide the best experience to the riders what makes this camp a memorable week.

Liza Rachetto- Guest Coach
Owner and founder of Liza Coaching, Liza is a highly experience and respected coach and  athlete in the professional cycling community as well as the long-distance triathlon world. She is a USA Cycling Level 2 certified coach, has podiumed in some of the most prestigious road cycling events in the US and internationally, and have won the 2022 Ironman World Champion AG in her age category in Kona, Hawaii. Liza is looking to share her experience and expertise with the riders, and is always there to keep the spirits of the troops high!

Adam Radford - Local guide

Adam Radford is a full-time cycling guide based in Costa Blanca. He has a long
history as a cyclist, having competed in races in the UK and spent time racing in
France and Belgium. Over the years, Adam has built a solid reputation as a cycling
expert in the region. His passion for cycling and riding is contagious, and he
always has great stories to share about his time as an elite racer in Europe!
